Project Main Components and Features

Sewerage networks - 500km and Pumping stations: 13:

• Region of Bebine: 106 km of sewers with 4 pumping stations

•Region of Halba: 108 km of sewers with 4 pumping stations

•Region of Kouaikhat: 70 km of sewers with 4 pumping stations

• Region of el Joume: 103 km of sewers with 1 pumping station

• Region of Qoubaiyat and Chadra: 60 km of sewers

• Region of Michmich: 50 km of sewers

Treatment plants: 6:

• El Abde wastewater treatment plant will receive discharges from 3 sewer systems of Bebnine, Halba and Kouaikhat and has an average capacity of 26 100 m3/day. This treatment plant will use the activate sludge method and the effluent will be treated to a secondary standard s or level of treatment and then be discharged to the Mediterrantean sea through a sea outfall.

• Gebrayel wastewater treatment plant will receive discharges of El Joume area and has an average capacity of 92 000 m3/day. This treatment plant will be of the biological activated sludge type and the raw sewerage will receive a secondary treatment before discharging the effluent in the river with a possible reuse of the disinfected effluent for irrigation.

• Qoubaiyat watewater treatment plant. This treatment plant will receive sewerage discharges of Qoubaiyat and Andqet. Its average capacity is 8000 m3/day and is of activated sludge type to secondary level of treatment with disinfection of effluent for reuse in irrigation.

• Chadra wastewater treatment plant will receive discharges from Chadrea sewer system and has an average capacity of 2800 m3/day. This plant uses the activated sludge techniques for treatment and the effluent will be discharged in the river.

• Michmich wastewater treatment plant with an average capacity of 7400 m3/day and activated sludge and secondary treatment process.

• Akkar el Atiqa wastewater treatment plant serves Akkar el Atiqa town with an average capacity of 1900 m3/day. This treatment plant uses the same treatment process as the other plants and discharges the effluent in the river.
